The Job Is Never Done

We live in a reality where technology has given us access to a wealth of knowledge and resources that can help us on our personal and professional journeys. The world around us is continually changing, and if we want to keep up with new opportunities and developing regulations, we have to evolve with it. Success in anything isn't found by staying stagnant; we have to overcome hurdles, adapt, and create solutions that we can apply to various areas of our life. We're acquiring wisdom as we move through each day, and it's these lessons that we use to grow our business, cultivate outstanding craft cannabis, and maintain long-term relationships with our clients and partners.

We at Giving Tree Farms always strive to be better than we were yesterday. We love to evolve, learn, and grow, and it's our dedication to continuously improving that has helped our farm reach success each year. We're always conquering a goal bigger than the last because we believe that without improvement, our farm will never see its greatest potential. Each year, we approach this evolution of our farm by defining new projects. Usually, these projects are intended to boost our sustainability or enhance efficiency, but sometimes they're also put into action to increase quality or fill our sales pipeline. In the past, we've done this through improvements to our cold frame greenhouses, like with the installation of a metal arm to make tarp pulling easier; by installing a climate-controlled greenhouse for winter production to create more avenues of profit; by installing sensors to help us control our environment more precisely and increase our yield quality; and by honing in on our linear workflow design to keep our team operating efficiently. Our latest project is the installation of a solar panel to power our farm. This move will make us more independent when ensuring we have power during cultivation, harvest, curing, and processing, even during the rolling blackouts of fire season. We will use the power of the sun to run our pumps, our home appliances, our LED lights, our A/Cs and heaters, and everything else it takes to operate our farm and residence.

While our big projects are a large piece of how we continue improving, our cultivation space is another area we find ourselves regularly working on. We've defined what it takes to have a successful harvest, but there's always some TLC our land could benefit from. Whether that's thinning out weeds in surrounding areas, rebuilding our soil before each season, cleaning pots to reuse, renewing our irrigation lines, or something else, when success is the goal, we must always be fine-tuning our methods. The passion behind cultivation for us comes with the idea that the job is never done, and the first step to recognizing the next course of action is to sit down and identify the holes in our system. To do this, we like to meet with our cultivation team and ask them how things are going. Where are they experiencing challenges? What tools would assist them in their day-to-day activities? From there, we can come up with creative solutions together that we apply to our daily operations. Without the brainstorming and motivation to improve, we wouldn't continue increasing our flower quality, expanding our yields, or bettering our relationship with the environment. When hiccups happen along the way, we view them as an opportunity to learn, then take that newfound knowledge and apply it to our operation as we advance.

At all times of the year, we are looking for areas in which we can improve. We strive to apply our knowledge from yesterday to today and approach every challenge with optimism and an open mind. This dedication to our craft results in the production of fantastic craft cannabis cultivars, and it's this quality that keeps our clients happy and wanting more.
